Cardiobase

The new web version of Cardiobase is being deployed at the first client site in November 2007. Will all the best loved features and functions of the current production version, the new web version will offer a ‘Vista’ look and feel, include many new features, be even easier to deploy.

Cardiobase is the leading clinical database system for cardiac departments in Australia and also has major client sites in the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

Cardiobase is the obvious choice for busy cardiac departments which need a reliable and easy to use patient database system with true connectivity to their hospital’s patient master index, imaging systems and other core applications.

There is little time nowadays for learning archaic software programs. Implementing Cardiobase, with its proven and much lauded user interface comes like a breath of fresh air as it is logically laid out and everything is at your fingertips. Staff will take to it quickly. We have listened to our clients and the new web version retains this common sense approach.

Cardiobase is a sophisticated client-server SQL database with ODBC functionality and proven HL7 interfacing capability, with many HL7 interfaces currently in use at various client sites. Audit and reporting tools can be provided by appropriate ODBC connections to products such as MS Office, Crystal Report Writer and it also provides the CCAD extract files required by Dept. of Health for National Service Framework Coronary Heart Disease national Audit in the United Kingdom.

Cardiobase has had an evolutionary development, starting with an innovative user-interface for the DOS era through to Windows 3.11, then Windows 95/98/NT with the Windows graphical user interface and then a multi-platform version capable of running on Windows or Linux and with a choice of back-end SQL database systems. A limited internet capability has also been available.

Continually building on the strengths of the product, improvements are being made where they best benefit the client. This approach has made upgrading to each new version easy for clients. We have clients who have used all versions dating back to 1989.

New features include file attachment for such things as referral slips, PDF output from MXT machines, PDF output from the Holter/Event monitor software, TIFF images from scanned ECGs, JPEG from scanned external patient correspondence, Excel spreadsheets for Tilt Table analysis and so on.

SQL Client-Server
Cardiobase has a choice of two Client-Server SQL database back-ends - Firebird or SQL Server. These provide a number of significant features and benefits. These include:

“Industrial strength” database platform for heavy network use
Large multi-user capacity
Fast, yet efficient operation over networks
Tight Security
Complete log file of all database events
Structured Query Language capability
Low memory usage on workstations
Minimal client workstation setup for easy deployment.

There are over 50 modules for Cardiobase.

.
